Prom season makes me sad

...because it only reminds that my prom season was a year ago. And I'm kind of feeling a pang of regret over how much excitement I've forgone for focusing on studying. But alas, there's no reason for regret, because the past doesn't exist anymore, and for something as trivial as this, I can only console myself by endless browsing.

So there, a selection of gorgeous dresses of all sorts of prices that would lend themselves quite gorgeously for prom night. Sigh. Is it okay if I buy a nice gown just for the hell of it? I mean, I'll wear it... sometime. Someone in my family is bound to get married sooner or later, I have like 30 cousins.

How about you darlings? Are you in prom season? Do you wish you were? What kind of dress would you wear? Let's discuss!

Coffee, why so chic?

I'm not a coffee drinker. My very traditional family maintained that children don't drink coffee and I complied happily after sneaking a sip, when I was 6, from my mum's cup and thought it was disgusting black venom.

Come highschool, particularly the final year with all that studying, I somehow managed to make-do with mostly green tea and the occasional cappuccino (strictly for fancy reasons, like with friends over even more chic cigarettes called "Vogue"). I was just fine without it on a regular basis. But I LOVED the idea of it.

Now , between a very demanding Business Administration curriculum, working part-time, blogging, and trying to, you know, actually have a life, I'm hitting up the coffee machine at school more often, sometimes north of three times a week. An icky love affair, because for 60 eurocents, you get a plastic cup filled with a dark brown coffee undeserving of its name, but with the same chemical properties. I snare at at all the girls brandishing steaming Starbucks cups and I sigh. I'm too much of a stumble-to-school-no-time-to-stop kind of girl, not to mention Starbucks is $$$.Or should I say €€€?

Anyways, the point and inspiration of this post was that coffee is just so chic, non?

What about you? Are you a coffee drinker?

Have a refreshing Sunday

Is it me or are Sundays all about recharging our batteries? No household chores, no errands to run, and, heh, there is no mail on Sundays. But all this recharging can turn into ennui if it's not at least a little bit active, so here's what I think would be nice ways to recharge.

Make authentic mint lemonade like they do in the Middle-East.
Sure, about half the world is suffering from heat right now, but no one does heat control like those who would get chilly in what most of us call hot. Picture and recipe here.

If it's not that hot, finally perfect that chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Everyone makes/eats/loves these. I've been searching for a good, easy to make, preferably vegan chocolate chip cookie (how come we don't call these ccc's?) recipe for a while, and I seem to have finally found it. Will try. Picture and recipe here.

You could also finally clean out your computer. No, seriously. I got the blue screen of death today, you guys. My heart stopped for a second as my beloved laptop promptly restarted. I breathed again and swore to be more gentle to it (you know, no more than five tabs open in Chrome, turning it off once in a while, finally getting a cooler, actually seeing the desktop background from all the files, simple stuff).

How about you, darlings? How do you keep your Sundays from being ruined by boredom?

The Universe will provide.

I mentioned in my Truth Tuesday post about my struggles in facing the future. A panic attack last night and I was ready to call it off and run to nearby Cluj City to apply for college 100 kilometres from home. It would be so much simpler, I told myself. Sure, not as good in the long run, but easy.

Thankfully though, I checked myself in time. I went back to all the beliefs I have stored within myself in the past couple of years. I will admit, I watched The Secret again last night. I know it's controversial and people claim it doesn't work. Like it's something that can work/not work, like a trick. It's not like a diet or get-rich-fast book. It's principles that if applied to a personal level harm no one. I don't and never did watch it with a pen and paper.

These ideas do good. They did me good. They make up my philosophic/religious mindset. God/The Universe is not an all-smiting force and doesn't know of the word insufficient and, to actually quote The Secret, what you think about, you bring about.

Obsessing about money issues, language barriers and bureaucratic red tape will not make them go away, and worrying when I'm not even there yet, when nothing relevant can be done, is down right futile. So I fell asleep watching this crazy little movie and woke up serenely confident that there's enough for me too out there.

The Universe will provide.

Just like it provided us with sour cherries and lovely flowers. Look!

Also, shopping has therapeutic effect. But more about that later, and with photographic evidence.
